Nine of Abingdon’s most talented swimmers travelled up to the Sandwell Aquatics Centre in Birmingham to compete in the ESSA national swimming relays. The U15 team of Luca, Satoshi, Elijah and James qualified for the medley and the freestyle relays. They finished 21st in the freestyle relay, moving up 13 places from their qualification rank of 34th, and came 13th in the medley relay, narrowly missing out on a spot in the national final by three places. Jose, Chung Nam, Ralph, Monty and Ethan in the U18 age group also qualified for both relays. They came 12th in the medley relay, just missing out on the final by two places. They also qualified for the final in the freestyle relay, finishing 8th in the country in the final. The senior freestyle relay team of Chung Nam, Ralph, Monty and Ethan also broke the previous school record in the U18 4x50m freestyle relay by a massive 3.4 seconds.
