On Saturday the senior cross country team traveled to Woodbridge School in Suffolk for the ESAA National Cup Final. The course was set up brilliantly and would be both a technical and strength test as the steep hills were covered in a thin layer of snow and freezing mist. Quinn ran a superb race, tucking into the powerful leading pack as they thundered around the first of three laps. He began to reel in pre-race favourite James Dargan on the third lap, but the GB athlete was eventually too strong. A silver medal in a national final is a huge achievement. Monty’s race was every bit as confident as Quinn’s. He calmly moved through the field, finishing 28th. Hugh ran his usual gutsy race, coming 59th and Ralph was not far behind in 73rd. The team executed their race plan even better than we’d hoped for. Three of the four runners whose score counted are fifth years, making us excited about the team’s prospects over the next two years.
