Wiehan Huang and Justin Chow have successfully reared unusual sub-species of the Hierodula genus of preying mantis. Wiehan's 'blue' variant has dramatic printing on the wings probably designed to deter larger predators while Justin's 'golden' variant was an enormous mantis and a ferocious predator.
