Huge congratulations to Charlie Atkinson OA who is one of 35 players selected by Eddie Jones for a three-day training camp in Teddington this week. Atkinson joined England greats including Jonny May on Tuesday at The Lensbury for the camp which is preparation for next weekend’s England match against the Barbarians and their tour of Australia in July.
Jones said: “With a number of players unavailable because of the Premiership semi-finals, we’ve got the opportunity to call up some new players. It’s a great opportunity to learn about them and see what potential they have to play a part in the Australia tour. We look forward to continuing the good work from our last camp in developing this team on and off the pitch.”
Matthew Gold, Director of Rugby at Abingdon, said: “It was absolutely incredible to see Charlie selected for the England Rugby squad this week. He has worked so hard over many years to get himself to this position. We are so proud of his achievements and were thrilled for him and his family. The training week will no doubt have been another big step-up, but an experience he will have enjoyed and learnt from. In recent months Charlie has cemented his position in the Wasps side. This selection is a nod to his progress and performances over the past two-years and the icing on the cake to what was another brilliant season for him.”
