Over the Easter break, 24 boys representing the U15 and U17 age groups travelled to Barbados for a pre-season cricket tour. The tour involved 10 local fixtures in preparation for the season, and a number of activities and excursions to gain a full flavour of this wonderful island in the West Indies.
Over the course of the ten days, the boys enjoyed great cricketing experiences at some unique grounds, from the Desmond Haynes Pavilion, where chickens roamed the outfield, to the Isolation Cavaliers Ground in the North West of the island; one of the most picturesque grounds you could wish to play at. It was also great to see a few opponents' opening bowlers giving some of our batsmen the 'hurry-up'!
Off the cricket field, Harbour Lights and Oistins provided some true bajan experiences and the jeep safari offered a great opportunity to see much of the island, although a little rough going in places! A catamaran cruise on the penultimate day provided a relaxing way to finish a great tour.
I am sure that the boys took many valuable and precious memories from the tour and learnt a lot about their cricket. They deserve a special mention for the impeccable way in which they conducted themselves both on and off the field.
