Abingdon Science Partnership (ASP) has ended the year with an extremely busy programme of events, including several of the regular science workshops for primary schools and a celebration of the CREST Science Award scheme for Dunmore Primary School’s Year 2 classes. On Saturday 1 July the ASP team was split, with three staff and several student Science Ambassadors running the monthly Science Oxford Saturday Science Club whilst two Abingdon staff were supporting teams from both Caldecott Primary and Fitzharrys School competing in the Greenpower electric go-kart challenge heats at Ford’s Dunton Technical Centre in Essex.

The last week of term involved a final Primary Science Club of the year with primary school children and their parents invited to take part in a stomp rocket challenge together, again led by Abingdon Science Ambassadors. Even after the summer term ends, there is one event left to run, which is the Abingdon Confidence in Science Practical Skills Workshop, for sixty students from local partner schools, funded by the Honourable Company of Mercers and run by science staff from Abingdon and SHSK. ASP owes a great deal of its success and standing in the local community to the dedication to the joint causes of STEM and Partnership shown by academic and support staff, Science Ambassadors, partner school staff, pupils and parents as well as organisations and companies that have supported activities this year. A big thank you to all that have contributed and we look forward to starting again in September!
