Thanks to a donation from Abingdon and other supporters, Agape, our partner charity in Moldova, has been very busy in recent weeks with the following projects:
- Distributing 90kg of no longer used old style Abingdon sports kit to schools and families in Ialoveni District thanks to SUS.
- Making book donations to the public library of Puhoi village, as well as to Petre Stefanuca High School in Ialoveni.
- Providing over 100 families with school supplies for the start of the new academic year in five locations including the villages of Zimbreni and Vasieni.
- Offering food package donations to 20 families belonging to the Association of the Blind in the Ialoveni district.
- Donating a special study book for the Romanian language to 400 students in Ialoveni and other localities.
- Providing two sets of robotics equipment for the Inclusive Education Unit at Petre Stefanuca School for those with special educational needs.
- Setting up a holiday camp for younger children based in Ialoveni, run by Gabriela and Lavinia, two of the volunteers who worked with Abingdon pupils during this summer’s Moldova Project Trip, with support from the Deputy Director of Petre Stefanuca School, Mrs Tatiana Chiruță. They sent the message below at the end of the camp: We gladly accepted the challenge of organising the activities during the vacation days, continuing what we started in the summer. The students were active and happy, and they didn’t want to go home. A total of 25 fifth-grade students took part. We sincerely thank you for all the support and hope for a lasting and successful collaboration between our institutions.
