Third Year pupils took part in a range of activities on Sustainability Day, designed to educate them about both the school’s and their own environmental responsibilities. Students attended informative talks by a University of Reading lecturer, Professor Mike Goodman, and a graduate student, Molly McGoldrick, who is working at the Harwell’s Energy Tech Cluster. The activities included experiments involving solar and wind power, calculating the carbon content in trees, and a variety of other decision-making exercises. Overall, the day was a success, with students developing a deeper understanding of and commitment to environmental stewardship.

Students commented:

  • “Very informative, useful and I enjoyed the activities. They made me think more about what is going on in the world today.”
  • “It was great to hear from experts in their fields around the topic of sustainability.”
  • “I enjoyed the tour around the school site to see what is being done to be more sustainable.”
