This year in RE, Year 6 have been studying Judaism and Islam. Recently we have been focusing on Islam, and subjects we have studied have included: The Five Pillars of Islam (Shahadah, Salat, Zakat, Sawm and Hajj), halal and haram (what is permitted and not permitted in Islam) and the features of a mosque.
Today Year 6 went on a school trip to Oxford Central Mosque. The building was huge with a large dome and tall minarets. Before entering we had to take off our shoes, then we went into the smaller of the two prayer halls.
