Year 6 enjoyed an overnight stay at a ‘Bushcraft’ camp near Cornbury in Oxfordshire. After arriving in the middle of Friday morning, it was straight into learning the various methods of building fires in the wild. This was put straight into practice and boys separated into tribes and collect wood to built their own fire. Using this fire, they cooked their own lunch – roasted trout! It was then time to learn about the art of camouflage. Boys camouflaged each other and if was off into the woods to play the ‘Predator’ game. Following a supper of pasta bolognese cooked over the camp fire, it was then time to learn about the various methods of trapping and to play games into the evening.
