Our annual celebration of books on World Book Day is always an event we all look forward to, pupils and teachers alike. Children were asked to dress as a character from one of their favourite books. As well as some fun activities in class, children were able to show their fantastic costumes in assembly. Prizes were awarded to the best, which included Rupert the Bear, Iron Man and a character from David Walliams’ Ratburger. Not wanting to be left out, teachers were also judged on their costumes with the award going to a suitably scary portrayal of the terrifying Miss Trunchbull! It was an incredibly fun day with a serious mission: to promote reading for pleasure which, ultimately, improves children’s life chances and opportunities.
