Nine Abingdon Prep boys attended the workshop today at Radley College along with 40 other pupils from Moulsford, Elstree, St. Hugh’s and Summer Fields. Using simple rhythmic patterns as a basis for composition, pupils created short melodic phrases in instrument groups. These phrases were then ‘layered’ to produce a 10 minute piece entitled ‘Collaboration’ which was performed in an afternoon concert and streamed live across the internet! Our boys greatly enjoyed the freedom of playing in a large ensemble without having to read sheet music as well as a rather splendid lunch!
