Despite the cold conditions the Abingdon Prep Under 9, 10 and 11 cross-country teams returned from last Friday’s Cokethorpe meeting having achieved collective and individual success competing against eight other schools.

The Under 10 team of Finn, Tom, Nikhil, Mikey, Ollie, William and Sam performed with credit. Finn came 5th, Mikey 10th and Sam 12th with the others running well.

The Under 9 team enjoyed greater success. Firstly, the team of Ned, Josca, Sam, George, Patrick, Luke, Jack and Matt won the overall team cup. The top four from this team were, in reverse order, Ned (11th), Josca (10th), Jack (9th) and, the overall individual winner, Sam.

When you thought it couldn’t get any better, it did. The Under 11 team of Quinn, Freddie, Joe, Jacob, Pedro, Monty, Samson and Matthew not only won the overall team event but all except one runner finished in the top 20 of over 50 runners. In fact, 5 of the top 10 places were filled with Abingdon Prep boys: Pedro (9th), Monty (8th), Freddie (6th), Jacob (5th), Joe (3rd) and the overall clear winner, Quinn.

Once again Abingdon Prep has proved its strength on the cross-country course thanks to its talented runners and strong back-up team of trainers and supporters.
