Supporting their work on natural selection and evolution, Year 8 visited Oxford University’s Natural History Museum for a workshop and tour. In the workshop, Chris from the Museum, talked about deep time and how growing understanding of geology and the fossil record within it strongly influenced the work of Darwin and those who came after him. The pupils got to examine many different fossils from huge oryx shinbones to shark’s teeth to ammonites. After the talk, they toured the museum to find answers for an evolution worksheet – but still found time to visit the ever-popular museum shop!
