Year 6 stepped back in time, almost 2000 years, to experience what life was like in Roman Britain by visiting Chedworth Roman Villa, just over the border in Gloucestershire.

After handling and sorting artefacts, ranging from bones and shells to building materials, the boys took a tour of the remains exposed by archaeologists since the 19th Century. These included visiting the different components of the bath house (caldarium, … and …) and the impressive floor decorations in the dining room (tricinium???) Most memorable, perhaps, was the tour of the latrines, complete with contemporary cleaning materials.
