Today thirty eight boys from Years 4-8 took part in a sponsored swim at Abingdon Senior School. It was one of this term’s major fundraising events for our chosen school charity, Helen and Douglas House. Boys swam a combined total distance of over sixty miles – equivalent to swimming from Abingdon to Cardiff! Many personal bests were achieved, with ten boys completing a mile and six the maximum 4000m, or 160 lengths. Several boys far exceeded their personal targets including Freddie in Year 4 who told his father he was aiming for 30 lengths and ended up swimming 100! We were grateful for the support of parents who assisted in counting the lengths and, of course, giving the all-important words of encouragement as fatigue set in.
