Year 8R moved onto the topic of sound in their science lessons. The first lesson involved exploring how many different instruments and devices make different sounds and how you can change them. From tuning forks to twanging elastic bands, tuned boomwhacker tubes and more. Some pupils had brought in their own instruments including an oboe and guitars; we also raided the music department for drums and a keyboard to form a scratch band!

And what tune did we all play that could be accommodated on the basic boomwhacker and small xylophone scale, as well as all the other tuned instruments and percussion? The White Stripes’ ‘Seven Nation Army’.
