The Abingdon Prep School inter-house swimming gala took place at the Senior School's 25 metre swimming pool. The gala was split into two events, Year 5 & 6 (Intermediate) and Year 7 & 8 (Senior).
During a very competitive afternoon of house swimming, no less than eight school swimming records were broken.
In Year 5, the outstanding performer was Nathaniel from Griffin who broke two school records in the 25m Backstroke (19.66sec.) and the 25m Freestyle (16.12sec.). There were also fine performances from Fabian, James and Ned. While in Year 6, Kayden was the standout performer, breaking school records in no less than three events. The 25m Backstroke (18.65sec.), 25m Freestyle (15.42sec.) and the 50m Breaststroke (44.37sec.) and anchored his team to victory in both the Medley and Freestyle Relays. Tye, Monty, Jasper and Quinn also impressed.
The final results (Year 5 & 6): 1st – Phoenix, 2nd – Griffin, 3rd – Dragon, 4th – Unicorn
In Year 7, the outstanding performers were Johnny (25m Backstroke & 50m Breaststroke) and Christopher (50m Freestyle – School Record). There were also outstanding swims from Xander and Henry. The Griffin House team won both the Medley and Freestyle Relays. The most outstanding Year 8 competitors were Matthew (25m Backstroke, 25m Butterfly & 50m Breaststroke) and Charlie (50m Freestyle) who also anchored his team, which comprised of Noah, Joe and John to victory in both the Medley and Freestyle Relays.
The final results (Year 7 & 8): 1st – Phoenix, 2nd – Griffin, 3rd – Unicorn, 4th – Dragon
