16 prep schools from as far afield as Suffolk and Somerset played for the Steggall Trophy. There was an amazing standard of play and the Abingdon 1st VII managed to finish third in their group (losing only to the eventual tournament winners and Pinewood) and therefore progressed through to the plate competition.
The results of the group matches were:

1st – The Elms
2nd – Pinewood
3rd – Abingdon
4th – Christ Church Cathedral
