To complement their studies of the Americas in geography, the pupils in Years 5 & 6 were given a wonderful presentation on the geography, culture and traditions of Peru by Ofelia, herself a Peruvian from Lima, and her husband, David. The pupils learned about the different climate and landscape zones of Peru, as well as aspects of life including schools, food, fauna and flora and languages. They learned of the traditional scissor dance, performed in the High Andes, and showed particular interest in the meaning of the symbols and colours of the flag. Each pupil received a Peruvian gift. For this, and the work which went into the presentation, we are very grateful. Gracias, Ofelia and David.
