The boys in Year 1 enjoyed a ‘pumpkin experience day’ to kickstart our learning with the new class book ‘Pattan’s Pumpkin’. The children scooped out the slimy, sticky and stinky innards and thought of amazing adjectives and similes to describe them. The boys wrote descriptions using wow words and similes. We also investigated whether pumpkins could float, made butternut squash bird feeders, baked our own pumpkin muffins, tried our toasted pumpkin seeds, learned some exciting pumpkin facts and created pumpkin diagrams too. All of the boys had a lot of fun and can’t wait to start reading the story!
