As part of their topic on human biology pupils in Year 7 have been studying the skeleton. After learning the anatomy of the human skeleton it was time to apply their knowledge to other animal skeletons and there is no better way than by dissecting an owl pellet. These are regurgitated bone and fur from Barn Owls, many of which can contain up to 3 rodent skeletons. This particular set of pellets has come all the way from the Idle Valley Nature reserve in North Nottinghamshire where they carry out numerous conservation projects.
