Today Hugo and Joshua from Year 6 and Joseph from Year 5 took part in the 'Let's Debate' Prep Schools' Debating Competition at Oratory School. After taking part in morning workshops focussing on public speaking and debating skills, they then were given a motion and prepared their speeches in the Library at Oratory. Competing against 11 other schools from across the South East, they opposed the motion 'This House believes that computer gaming is good for children'. Their debate took place in the Black Room at Oratory, where J.R.R Tolkien is said to have written part of 'Lord of The Rings'. After defending their position by responding to questions from the floor, the team were judged as the overall winners of the competition. This is the second time in three years that a team from the Middle Section of the School has won.
