The development of Abingdon Prep School’s exciting new facilities is entering its penultimate stage, clearly impressing Headmaster, Craig Williams and the Headmaster of Abingdon Senior School, Mike Windsor who did a tour of the site this week.
“The building has really taken shape over the last month” said Craig. “We can now walk inside each of the rooms and work out the finer details, which is really exciting.”
The new development, which began in 2021, will house a specialist music school consisting of a classroom, six practise rooms; and dedicated storage for instruments. It will also feature purpose-built facilities for CDT as well as house a second science laboratory and four additional classrooms for Years 5 and 6.
The opening of the new building, which is on schedule for September this year, will create enough additional space to transform and enhance the existing facilities. This includes much improved facilities for Computing, Drama and Learning Support; enlarging the library to double its existing size and by so doing create a vibrant contemporary learning space with dedicated areas for teaching, break out and quiet reading; and the creation of a new multi-use hall devoted to the Pre-Prep.
Craig continues: “These new state-of-the-art facilities will really enhance the offering to our pupils and will be of great benefit to Abingdon Prep boys for years to come.”
