Having already been postponed, the weather once again for our annual Inter-House Cross-Country was extremely wet, windy and soft underfoot. The event ‘kicked-off’ with all of the Pre-Prep running in the Under 7 race over 500m. This was won by William (Year 1) followed closely by Zeyi (Reception) in second place and Jonah (Year 2) in third place.
In the Under 9 race (1525m) Trystan (Year 4) led from the start and stretched his lead throughout the race. Jack (Year 3) and Max (Year 3) both finished in 2nd and 3rd place respectively.
The Under 11s (2025m) was a ‘classic’. The race contained all of the runners from both Year 5 and 6 that recently won the National Preparatory Schools Cross Country Championships (James, Noah, Josh and Arthur). Noah (Year 6) went out hard from the start and we all wondered whether he could maintain this phenomenal pace and hold off a chasing James (Year 6). The final result was, Noah (1st), James (2nd) and a very pleasing 3rd for Josh.
Our ‘grand finale’. The Under 13 race (3050m) contained a large group of runners with a fantastic running pedigree particularly in Year 7. Nathan went out at an exceptionally fast pace and maintained his lead throughout the race winning by a good 30 metres. Following closely behind was Xavier and Josh who finished 2nd and 3rd respectively.
A huge congratulations to all of the runners for their effort and perseverance in what can only be described as very testing conditions! Also, well done to all of the houses for your unwavering support of each other.
