A squad of 11 Year 5 and 6 boys took part in the Vale Primary Schools Hockey Tournament at Tilsley Park on Tuesday 26th January. After quick warm up, the boys played their first game, resulting in a frustrating 0-0 draw with John Blandy School. However, after ‘Hat Trick’ Harry secured the team a 3-0 win against Wantage, the goals started to flow more readily. Goal keeper, Adam Bradley’s clean sheet and the strong leadership of team captain John Corran saw the team safely through to the final. A convincing 2-0 victory secured Abingdon Prep a position in the County Finals to be played in March. An enjoyable afternoon was had by all, although the spectators present seemed to feel the cold significantly more than the players!
