U13 Report

The U13 A team faced a very lively and dynamic Oratory Prep side and were unable to match the intensity of the opposition. While the As had a few scoring opportunities, a 0 – 4 loss was a fair reflection of the afternoon. Lots to work on!

The U13 B and C teams played back to back matches against a useful Oratory Prep team. The B team, with their extra degree of energy, shape and some notable periods of fluency, were able to come out on top by three goals to nil, courtesy of strikes from Ollie (x2) and Freddie.

Unfortunately the C team, despite no lack of effort and due to some misfortune in front of both goalmouths, went down 2-0.

Man-of-the match was Fred for some competent and assured goalkeeping in both games, especially the B team fixture.

U13 A – Lost 0 – 4
U13 B – Won 3 – 0
U13 C – Lost 0 – 2

U12 Report

In the opening quarter, the U12 As went two goals ahead with a cracking strike from Jamie and a perfectly timed 6-yard volley from Josh. OPS were quick to claw a goal back, but from this point, the Abingdon midfield began to control the flow of the match, working hard from the back in order to create opportunities in front of goal. With such command of the centre ground, and relentless pressure in the OPS half, Abingdon scored their third goal via a wonder-strike from Freddie to go into halftime 3-1 ahead.

In the second half, with a solid base in defence, and very little for the keeper to do, there was scope for some individual brilliance. Paul struck home his first of three, following a tidy through-pass from Matt. He then picked up the ball at the halfway line, beat five players on the dribble and placed the ball into the corner for his second. The sixth goal came not long after, scored by Freddie after tenaciously winning the ball outside the box before striking home for his second. A solitary and unfortunate own-goal raised the OPS spirits for a short time, before Paul’s third goal sealed an impressive win for the U12 As and finished a game in which the whole team played their parts well.

The U12 Bs maintained their unbeaten run with a very frustrating draw at Oratory Prep. The Under 12 B dominated the possession but were unable to convert any of the chances.

U12 A – Won 7 – 2
U12 B – Drew 0 – 0

U11 Report

This was a fantastic result for the U11 A team and they can be really proud of their efforts. With five players missing, they played a humdinger of a game, finally running out 4-3 winners in the end. Despite trailing 1-2 at half time, they came back with great determination, playing some great football with passion and determination. Well done boys!

The U11 B team dominated their match with a pleasing eight goal victory while the U11 C were unlucky to lose their encounter.

U11A Won 4-3
U11B Won 8-0
U11C Lost 3-5
