Today, Alex, Joshua and Reuben took part in the Bucks, Berks and Oxfordshire County Age Group Foil competition at Langley Grammar School Sports Centre. This was the first time Josh and Reuben had taken part in an individual fencing event and the boys did especially well as the other competitors had a lot of experience.

Alex probably had one of the toughest fields in the U14 boys event, with most of his opponents older, bigger and quite 'physical'. He found the difference in reach a struggle but as always dug deep and kept going; concentrating on his technique and picking up some good hits.

Reuben entered the U10 event and throughout showed considerable resolve and calm. He fought his way into the final and although it was really close at the first break, he then went 3-7 (first to 10 wins) down at the second break.  He then managed to turn it around and won a very well deserved gold medal.

Joshua was competing in the U12s – another tough field with quite a few more entrants this year. He produced some beautiful technical hits in the poule rounds. He got through to the finals too and came out with a very well deserved silver medal.
