Year 5 boys were treated to an ecology experience of two halves thanks to the Bicester Demonstrator Eco Home team. The team visited Abingdon Prep to run a workshop with the boys exploring what is meant by ‘eco’ in both its literal and practical sense and to identify ways in which the boys and their families attempt to ‘do their bit’ for the environment.
The boys heard how the pioneering project in Bicester aims to develop an entire eco village over the next five years and were keen to suggest their ideas of what constitutes a necessary infrastructure – from football pitches and leisure centres to electric car garages and wind turbines.
