Our Year 6 boys were extremely excited to see if their copper sulphate crystals had grown from the tiny seed ones suspended into the saturated solutions of copper sulphate that they made. The crystals can only grow in a solution that cannot have any more solute dissolved in it – ‘saturated’. All were successful at growing beautiful blue rhomboid-shaped crystals.
