Reception had their first day together out of school, visiting Cogges Farm. We arrived bright and early on the school minibus to be met by Margaret who took us on a magical journey through the story of The Little Red Hen. We made our own pots, planted corn seed, threshed the corn, ground it into flour and then made bread in the old Victorian kitchen. After this we went on a hunt for eggs and all took part in the story of The Little Red Hen and learnt about how important collaboration and helping others can be!

We certainly had worked up an appetite for our picnic lunch and after refuelling we were off again to explore the farm where we met a variety of animals, hunted down the pumpkin patch, went on an enormous adventure around pastures filled with amazing climbing equipment, an abundance of natural berries and hedgerows, a meandering river and we then finished up on the adventure playground.

The day was rounded off with dancing and clapping along to a folk group playing under the apple trees. No wonder nearly all of us were asleep on the way home!
