Gong Hey Fat Choy! 恭禧發財

This week the boys in Reception explored some of the stories linked to the Chinese New Year Celebrations. The classroom came alive with the sound of drums and oriental music; a Chinese restaurant sprang up in our role play area, complete with our own hand-crafted lanterns; sculptures were made in rice; chopsticks were used to pick up items when counting, dragons were formed in red play-dough; the animals from the zodiac acted out the story in our garden; springy dragon puppets were crafted from scrap materials and Chinese numerals adorned the wall. Today we prepared our own Chinese meal.
