On a freezing morning Year 2 were bundled into mini buses and driven to the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford. Before we went to look around the exhibitions we had to go over a few rules – no touching art, no running and quiet voices so that the other members of the public could also enjoy the museum. Firstly we looked at sculptures and what materials they were made of. Some of the abstract art made us think of many different things – boats, seeds and shoes. Next we went to look at some paintings. We had to use a picture clue to find our painting that we would work on. Year 2 were fantastic art detectives! Quickly they had all found their paintings and were recording information. Michelle, the art teacher, told us some interesting facts about paintings.
