Last week Year 8 took part in their first Art History lecture, delivered by the wonderful historian Lizzie Rowe. The topic centred on ‘Disasters, when are they art?’
The pupils created their own reconstructive pieces allowing torn paper to fall on to a white space, discussing the amount of input required, or not, of an artist when creating art. Exploring artists such as Lucio Fontana, Ai Weiwei, Banksy and Cai Guo-Qiang. They certainly had lots of opinions on which pieces they liked, and those they did not. An analytical and creative experience had by all.
