This afternoon the School hosted their annual Middle Section Public Speaking Competition and Senior Section Debating Competition. Four boys from the Middle Section put forward their nomination for the accolade of 'The Greatest Living Briton'. Well done to Joseph of 5S for his winning speech about J.K Rowling. The Senior Section debated two motions on whether fireworks should be banned and whether prisoners should be given the right to vote. Well done to Robin from 7L who won the event. Both debates featured a number of impassioned speeches 'from the floor'. We would like to thank Mr. May, Deputy Head at Abingdon School, Olga Senior, an Abingdon Foundation Governor and Nicola Matthews, Deputy Head of Christ Church Cathedral School for forming the judging panel for both competitions.
