15 boys from four age groups competed in the Abingdon Vale Biathlon Time Trial today at Abingdon Sports Centre (Swimming) and Tilsley Park (Running). Out of the 15 Abingdon Preparatory School competitors, seven finished in the top three for their age categories. A tremendous achievement indeed.
A special mention must go to Nathaniel and Nikil who competed in the Under 10 category but are still only Under 9. The event, although rather daunting, will have given them valuable experience.
Quinn (1st), Freddie (2nd) and Jasper (3rd) completed a one-two-three for Abingdon Prep. In the Under 10 category. Jasper finished 1st in the 50m freestyle while both Quinn (2:39.32) and Freddie (2:45.07) excelled on the track.
William(1st) and Johnny (2nd), both outstanding athletes, again went ‘toe-to-toe’ in the Under 11s, with only a few seconds splitting the two of them. Both are prodigious talents! Alex won the Under 11 50m freestyle swim while Christopher improved his PB in both swim and run.
In the Under 12 category Rowan ran an astounding 2:32.78sec in the 800 metres and finished 2nd overall in the competition.
Nicholas (3rd) produced the most outstanding swim of the meet. He recorded 1:06.66sec for the 100 metre freestyle and combined this with a very creditable run over 1600m to finish 3rd overall. Many thanks to all the parents for their help on the day. If was once again a fantastic experience for all of our athletes.
