The final of the Shakespeare Sonnet Recital took place on the last morning of term, with 18 pupils taking part. Joint winners were Max (Sonnet 67) and Yash (Sonnet 17). Charlie and Harry were Year 7 and 8 runners up, and Alex, Trystan and Monty were also highly commended by judge Miss Kershaw from Abingdon’s English department. All the competitors recited their sonnets with aplomb to an attentive audience, a reflection of the high ambitions and standards set by all those from Years 7 and 8 who entered.
