Exams may be over but the boys at Abingdon Prep have been busy learning a huge variety of poetry ready for the Verse Speaking competition. Heats were held last week and every single boy in Years 3-6 took part. The range of poems on offer was staggering and included everything from Alfred Lord Tennyson to Benjamin Zephaniah. Choosing two finalists from each class was an incredibly difficult decision and all the boys must be congratulated on their performances. However, today we welcomed Steve Dineen, a professional actor and LAMDA coach, to judge the final of the competition. The standard of the final was incredibly high and Steve's decision was made all the more difficult by the contrasting offerings of the finalists.
