It's not every morning you walk into school to find Tin Tin, Harry Potter and Superman waiting in line for breakfast club - but then not every morning is World Book Day. World Book Day saw the school filled with an even more wonderful and exciting variety of characters than usual! From Stig of the Dump to the Gruffalo, the children from Reception to Year 8 celebrated the joy of reading in style. Storytelling sessions for Pre-prep took place throughout the week, led by our marvellous 'Library Ladies' and some very helpful Upper School boys. An abundance of props, sound effects and enthusiastic acting helped give the youngest boys at Abingdon Prep a memorable introduction to the school library.
The efforts of our parent volunteers could only be rivalled by our visiting authors, 'The Two Steves', whose interactive and lively performances captivated both young and not so young! Steve Barlow and Steve Skidmore specialise in writing books to engage and inspire more reluctant readers and their animated performances helped make World Book Day 2010 all the more memorable.
