Seven boys from four age groups competed in the Abingdon Vale Biathlon Time Trial on Sunday at Abingdon Sports Centre (Swimming) and Tilsley Park (Running). Out of the seven Abingdon Prep School competitors, two fished in the top 3.
Joshua (Year 5) was the best placed athlete of the day winning silver in the Under 10 category. Both his swim and run times were quicker than the APS boys in the Under 11 category which bodes well for next year.
The Under 11 boys consisting of James, Fred and Ollie all performed well and finished 7th, 9th and 10th respectively.
Winning bronze in the Under 12 boys category was Sam. He was closely followed by Ned in 4th. Both registered personal bests in their swim and run elements.
In the Under 13 category Jack finished in 6th over the longer distance of 100m (swim) and 1600m (run) and proved to be a steep learning curve. He did however show great determination throughout the day.
Many thanks to all the parents for their help on the day. Despite the weather it was once again a fantastic experience for all of our athletes!
