Art and Design Exhibition 2016 – Oxfordshire Art Week

Abingdon Prep is opening its doors to celebrate the art and design work created by its students and art scholars. We hope you can join us for either of the guided tours held on:

  • Tuesday 17 May: 8.30 am – 10.30am
  • Wednesday 18th May: 3pm – 6pm

Their will be refreshments in the library, kindly hosted by the Josca's Parent Association. Our students will be happy to guide you through the creative arts department, and look forward to welcoming you to our exhibition.

The School Hall looks fantastic with boys' artwork adorning the walls. Displays range across different year groups. The Year 3s have explored Egyptian decorative arts, creating their own cartouche, their names in hieroglyphs and a traditional Egyptian portrait.

The Year 7s have researched portraiture through the ages and with a variety of materials. They worked in the style of contemporary artist Julian Opie to create a self portrait.

The wall sculptures were made as part of the Saturday Art Academy workshops. Using fairgrounds and carousels as colour inspiration, the boys then experimented with compositional techniques in the style of Frank Stella.
