On Saturday 29 August the Abingdon Prep School U11s took part in the England Rugby Travel Mini Rugby Challenge Cup at the Olympic Stadium in London. The festival was a prelude to the Barbarians versus Samoa and consisted of thirty two teams from around the UK. Our U11s played in two tightly contested matches against Bedford School and Bradeston Court with only two tries separating the teams on each occasion. The sun was shining and all the boys enjoyed the experience of playing  in the magnificent stadium in front of thousands of spectators. Following the festival the boys were able to explore the Olympic village and then enjoy the Barbarians in their narrow victory over the Samoans in front of 50,000 spectators. The highlight of the afternoon was the Mexican wave started by our boys and when the sprinklers came on mid-way through the first half soaking the players and officials.
