It was an outstanding day yesterday for all of our cross-country runners. Out of 20 schools including The Dragon, Summer Fields, Moulsford, MCS, Chandlings, St. Hugh’s, Pinewood, Elstree, Farleigh, Beachborough and Oratory Prep and with over 630 runners, Abingdon Prep came first overall for the third year running. With around 70 – 80 runners in each race this is a tremendous achievement. This of course does not happen by coincidence, but by strategic planning in terms of training, hard work and enthusiasm. Systems are in place to make all our boys better! Our success over the years has simply ‘snowballed’.

Our Year 3s gained a great deal of experience from competing in this event and have already shown huge improvement since the beginning of the academic year. Our first place APS runner was Henry in 17th closely followed by Max in 18th.

The performance of the day came from our Under 9 team who finished 1st and 2nd in the individual event and scored an overall total of twenty points in the team competition to finish 1st by a huge margin! What a fantastic team effort!

The under 10s were not to be outdone. They also won both the individual and team competition. William led the way in 1stfollowed by Johnny in 5th. Both Xander and Ludo (23rd and 30th) are very exciting prospects for the future and will undoubtedly keep both Johnny and William on their toes.

Rowan cruised to 1st place in the Under 11 event followed closely by Dominic (21st) and George (33rd) respectively.

The results were as follows:

Under 8 – Team Competition: 4th Place
Under 9 – Team Competition: 1st Place
Under 10 – Team Competition: 1st Place
Under 11 – Team Competition: 4th Place
Boys’ Overall Competition: 1st Place
