Abingdon School is situated in 35 acres of beautiful grounds in the centre of Abingdon, just south of Oxford. The School occupies large and beautiful grounds. The facilities are excellent with recent significant developments made across the campus, including a flexible and beautiful new dining pavilion which was opened in Autumn 2023, which is adjoined to the Amey Theatre.

Hiring the Amey Theatre
The Amey Theatre, built in the 1980s and fully refurbished in 2015 sits at the heart of Abingdon School’s Arts Centre. The auditorium is equipped with modern high specification technical facilities, a large ‘apron’ stage and projection facilities which include an 8m x 5m cinema standard projection screen. The space is versatile and can be adapted to a wide range of uses. Please note, the Amey theatre standard set up allows for 434 attendees to be comfortably seated, with the option of increasing capacity to 450 attendees at an additional cost.

Hiring the Pavilion
Adjoining the main auditorium, our state-of-the-art pavilion features a bar and a dynamic contemporary space, perfect for functions and events. Available for hire separately or alongside the Amey Theatre, this versatile venue is ideal for any occasion. With a seating capacity of 246, the pavilion includes a snug wellness area, a bar, a café kitchen, and diverse dining facilities. Choose from a variety of seating options, including dining tables, high tables, bistro tables, and soft seating, to create the ideal ambiance for any occasion. Please note, if you are looking for a dining table-only event, we can accommodate up to 210 attendees.

AV and technical support
The Amey Theatre is equipped with modern, high-specification technical facilities, featuring surround sound and an impressive 8m x 5m cinema-grade projection screen—perfect for hosting a variety of conferences and events. The control room is designed to support high-caliber productions, and our expert team ensures seamless technical support and stage management.
Additionally, the Pavilion boasts a large projection screen and dual HD monitors, along with various lighting options ranging from soft ambient tones to bright settings, making it ideal for any event. There is also a direct audiovisual link to the Amey Theatre, allowing talks on stage to be relayed into the Pavilion.
