On Thursday 25 September, we had the pleasure of hosting the Oxfordshire Lord-Lieutenant Awards 2025 at the Amey Events Centre.

The Lord-Lieutenant Awards ceremony is always a truly special and prestigious occasion. It recognises individuals who embody the spirit of volunteering and highlights the enduring relationships that strengthen our local community. The evening saw the presentation of His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant’s Certificates for Meritorious Service, which were established to give public recognition to members of the Reserve and Cadet Forces whose outstanding contributions are not otherwise acknowledged in the twice-yearly Honours Lists.

This year, the Lord-Lieutenant presented 8 British Empire Medals, 6 Meritorious Service Certificates across all three Services, 1 Best Reservist Award kindly sponsored by Diamond Light Source, and welcomed 6 newly appointed Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadets.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to A Company, 7 Rifles for their support on the evening, and to the two Buglers from the Waterloo Band and Bugles of the Rifles for their superb fanfare, which made the event all the more memorable.

Thank you so much for everything you did for the event last night. I thought it went really well despite us not having been there for an entire year and I am so, so grateful to you and your team.

Please pass on my thanks to everyone involved and of course, a special mention to the fantastic food service! The team are clearly a well-oiled machine, the food was absolutely delicious and those tarts – Oh my gosh!
