During these challenging times, it is important that we continue to keep our mind and body fit and active, especially whilst our normal routine may be out of sync. So why not learn a new skill? Or challenge yourself to improve your running or cycling PB? Whatever you decide to do, enjoy it and have fun!
Ben Sanders has kindly shared his experience from his bike ride in the sunshine earlier on this week…
“The temperature was 26 degrees celsius, the sun was shining and the wind was light. I decided it was perfect for a nice 30km bike ride through the South Gloucestershire countryside and over the Severn Bridge. This is one of my favourite rides to do from my parents house, but I would normally continue through Chepstow and onto Tintern Abbey, but due to the restrictions in Wales, I had to adapt the route. I started in Thornbury, through the countryside and back roads to Littleton, then onto Aust. The sun was beating down and I was in need of some cool air, which having taken the cycle path onto the Severn Bridge I was hit by a lovely cool cross wind, not too strong but enough to take my average speed down a little.
Today wasn’t about speed but more about enjoying the views from the bridge, which weren’t the crystal blue waters of Lake Geneva and Evian-les-Bains, but still a stunning view of both Wales and England. Once I reached the other side I wasn’t sure what to expect, was I going to meet border control? Luckily there was nothing out of the ordinary. I turned back round and enjoyed the return trip back”.
