RLSS Generation 10 National Pool Lifeguarding Course (NPLQ) with AED

 

Achieve the UK’s leading lifeguarding qualification and gain valuable, real-world skills. The RLSS Generation 10 National Pool Lifeguarding Qualification (NPLQ) with AED provides practical, hands-on training to prepare learners for work as professional pool lifeguards. The course covers pool supervision, rescue skills, CPR, emergency response and AED use.

On successful completion, learners receive the RLSS UK NPLQ Generation 10 qualification, which is valid for two years, worth 8 UCAS tariff points, and qualifies them to work as a pool lifeguard in the UK. Upon successfully completing the assessment, there may also be the opportunity to work at Abingdon School Sports Centre on selected shifts.

 

Essential requirements for participants:

  • Must be 16+ years and in good health and fitness to attend this course
  • Swim 50-meters in under 60-seconds
  • Swim 100-metres continuously on both their front and back
  • Must be able to do front crawl, breaststroke and swim on their back for 2-lengths of the pool without stopping
  • Tread water for 2-minutes continuously
  • Surface dive to the deepest part of the pool
  • Climb in and out of the pool unaided without using steps or ladders
  • Participants must come into the Sports Centre on an agreed date and take a routine swim test before starting this course
  • 100% attendance of the course is required before being invited to complete the assessment on the final day

The course lasts 5-days and each day is split into two sessions; theoretical/classroom based activities and a 2-hour pool session. Please note, all participants are required to complete an assessment on the final day. Each participant will be required to wear shorts and t-shirt whilst in the pool.

The cost of this 5-day course is £250 (all materials will be provided).

The course will run from 9.00am – 6.00pm each day. Based at Abingdon School Sports Centre.
