… We’re starting to open our doors again!

New outdoor exercise classes now available at Tilsley Park

As Abingdon School Sports Centre remains temporarily closed, we are introducing outdoor exercise classes at Tilsley Park from Monday 13 July and we’ve got some exciting new classes for you to enjoy. These include Box Fitness, Kettlebells and Strength and Flow… all of these new additions alongside our usual favourites!

The programme
We will be offering outdoor exercise classes throughout the week during the evenings and Saturday morning. This may evolve according to demand. Classes are for all abilities and you are advised to exercise at a level that is suitable for you. We will be releasing the exercise class programme on Wednesday 8 July, which will be available for you to book online.

Spin classes
We are looking into the logistics of outdoor spin classes and it is our intention to offer these very soon.

Class sizes
During the current restrictions, exercise class sizes will be limited to five per class until further government instructions.

The cost
While our memberships remain suspended, we’re offering members a discounted price of £3.50 per exercise class and £7.00 for non members. We’re also offering a Saver Package – buy 4 exercise classes and get one free, which can also be purchased online.

Booking
You will be able to book and pay for exercise classes online through our website. We advise that you book in advance to avoid disappointment and also for your convenience as the main building and reception desk is currently closed. You may also book by phoning Tilsley Park (01235 524524), but please be aware that we are operating on a skeleton staff at the moment and calls may take slightly longer to answer.

Cashless payments
If you haven’t booked a class but wish to attend one, payment will be cashless and only through debit or credit card during this period. The booking and payment point will be located at the entrance to the athletics track at Tilsley Park.

Health questionnaire
If you are new to our exercise classes, please complete a health questionnaire which can also be found on the website alongside the class information from next week. This will be a requirement before you start a class.

Exercise class locations
We will have three outdoor locations for exercise classes and these will be identified in the class programme. These areas will be clearly signposted from the Tilsley Park car park.

What to bring
Please note that the main building will be closed due to the current restrictions, therefore please come prepared with your water bottle and anything else you may need.

All weather classes
The exercise classes are intended to be suitable for all weather conditions and we will only cancel if we consider the conditions to be unsafe. Please dress appropriately for the weather.

Your safety comes first
The wellbeing of our customers and staff are our absolute priority and, with this in mind, we will be strictly following governments regulations and relevant industry guidance for each activity. This includes UK Active, England Athletics, RLSS, the FA etc. Please note that there will be no shared equipment and all equipment will be disinfected after use.

Club activities at Tilsley Park
Tilsley Park is also open to clubs for training purposes with the current restrictions. For further information, please contact Tilsley Park directly on Tel. 01235 524524.

A big thank you to our members
Thank you to all of our members for staying with us during lockdown. We’re pleased to report that we have had very few cancellations since March and we are working towards fully opening up again as soon and as safely as possible. Government and School restrictions mean that we will have to operate differently for the foreseeable future but we will work closely with our customers to minimise any inconvenience.

As always, please get in touch if we can provide further information at this time, and thank you for your continued patience and support.

We’re looking forward to seeing you again!

Best wishes,
The Abingdon Sports and Leisure Team
