On Sunday, the 2026 Abingdon Marathon celebrated the 42nd year of the event. First held in 1982, it is one of the UK’s longest-established marathons.

This year’s event attracted more than 1,000 runners and raised over £20,000 for local charities and organisations, with all profits going towards supporting good causes. The marathon also welcomed its first-ever wheelchair athlete, marking a significant milestone in the event’s history.

Tilsley Park was proud to host the runners’ village and race headquarters, as well as the start and finish of the race on its athletics track.

The Abingdon Marathon continues to make a valuable contribution to the local community by supporting worthwhile causes. It is always a pleasure to host this fantastic event.
