Abingdon Sports and Leisure is responsible for the development of the Abingdon Foundation’s sport and leisure facilities (the Sports Centre, Tilsley Park, Amey Theatre and a variety of other lettings).
The sports hall accommodates multi-sport activities, including badminton, volleyball, basketball and indoor hockey and has space for four cricket lanes. There are two squash courts, a gym, a climbing wall and a large multi-purpose studio, as well as an eight lane indoor swimming pool.
Tilsley Park offers some of the best sports facilities in the area for rugby, athletics, hockey and football, with all-weather pitches – including a new 4G surface – and a new throws area. The facilities are very popular with local clubs and organisations and we hope to expand our offering further.
The Sports Centre is open to the public for use out of school hours and during the holidays. Members will be able to use the facilities, which include a gym, 8-lane swimming pool, squash, badminton and tennis courts. There is a range of exercise classes for all abilities, as well as the Tilsley Park Boot Camp. The community has the opportunity to use the facilities on a pay-as-you-go basis. Abingdon Sports and Leisure also hosts sports courses, holiday activities, junior swim sessions and birthday parties.
We offer exclusive-use packages, including our hospitality facilities which provide the perfect venue for training courses, workshops, conferences or away days in an ideal setting – with our first-class catering and a dedicated and friendly team. In addition, the installation of a large projection screen, 7.1 surround sound and a satellite link in the Amey Theatre has enabled it to be used as a cinema including live streaming of National Theatre productions.
